Social Programme

An attractive social programme will be available, as the venue is located in the city center. One may enjoy winter(sports) in the Austrian Alps or explore the Swarowski Crystal World in the nearby city of Wattens.

Alpine Skiing:

Patscherkofel skiingA complimentary shuttlebus service will be available in the afternoons on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to transfer interested participants to the "Axamer Lizum". Please indicate in the travel form if you would like to rent skiing gear. Further, electronic half-day ski tickets valid from 1-4 pm at the Axamer Lizum can be purchased in cash (Euros only) on a daily basis in the ABC2014 meeting office at the hotel. The discounted rate for ABC2014 participants is EURO 18 (incl. € 2 refundable deposit) per half-day. Private skiing lessons for beginners are possible - please contact "Ski und Snowboard Schule Innsbruck"!


Ski Rental

The ski rental "Die Börse" located in Innsbruck can be used to rent ski equipment. On Saturday and Sunday, March 8 & 9, we provide a free shuttle service to the ski rental shop. The equipment can be stored in the hotel (special room) during the whole course. Please indicate in the travel form if you would like to rent skiing gear.

Swarovski Crystal World:

Swarovski Crystal World Image kindly provided by WikimediaA daily bus leaves from Innsbruck to the Swarowski Crystal World in Wattens at 1 pm and 3 pm (30 min. ride). The “Swarovski Crystal World” - package at the rate of EURO 19,50 includes the bus ride and the entrance fee. Tickets can be purchased at the front desk in the Hotel Grauer Bär.

Silberbergwerk

On Tuesday, March 11, you will have the chance to visit the world's biggest medieval silver mine in Schwaz, close to Innsbruck. After the descent via mine railway you'll walk on the paths of thousands of men that worked there 500 years ago.

Note that the temperature inside the mine will be approximately 12°C/53°F, so warm clothing is recommended.

During the tour you will cover approximately 1 km/0.6 mi by foot and will also have to climb steps, so please be sure to have proper footwear. The tour is not recommended for people with hip or knee injuries or people with claustrophobia.

The cost of this excursion is EURO 25 (incl. shuttle and guided tour). The bus will leave from the hotel at 1:15 pm, return at approximately 4:30 pm.

You may register in the travel form (online for accepted participants in February 2014). Please note that your registration for this excursion is binding!

Payment is due upon registration in Innsbruck (€ cash only). Thank you!
